The USA has once again attacked a country in Latin America. This will likely take place to the sound of loud music, both in Caracas and in other cities across the continent. Music is never just music in Latin America. Salsa and reggaeton are among the world’s most global genres; Bad Bunny from Puerto Rico was recently the world’s most streamed artist for the fourth time, and even here in small Norway we dance to merengue, cumbia and bachata.

Why is the world so fond of Latin American music, where does it come from, what does it mean to people in everyday life and in revolution, and can you still be killed for singing the wrong song in the wrong place? Join us on a fascinating lecture journey into the musical and social history of Latin America, with music from all the countries the USA has intervened in.
