Flavours of fjord and mountain – with a view you’ll never forget

The restaurant at Westerås Gard is perched high above Geiranger, offering panoramic views of the fjord and surrounding peaks. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, blending rustic charm with modern touches – a place where you’ll experience both authentic flavour and heartfelt hospitality. Enjoy lunch, dinner or light refreshments in the converted barn, where menus shift with the seasons and availability of local produce. This is food with soul, served in a setting you won’t soon forget.

In the barn you’ll also find the farm shop, where you can pick up homemade jams, juices, and handcrafted items made from sheep and goat hides – perfect souvenirs from this mountain farm with a view.

Seasonal dining and charming stays

The restaurant is open from May to September and is part of the family-run Westerås Gard – a working farm with deep roots in the area. You can also stay overnight in cosy log cabins or apartments in the old farmhouse. All units have private entrances and modern comfort – and you’ll wake to silence and stunning views. You won’t get closer to the Geiranger nature experience.

A practical and popular starting point

It’s easy to reach the restaurant from Geiranger, either by walking the scenic trail from the town centre or by car along a narrow but beautiful mountain road. On-site parking is available. From the farm, you can also hike to Storsæterfossen – a spectacular waterfall with a trail that takes you behind the cascading water – one of the most popular hikes in the area. Westerås Gard is not just a restaurant, but a perfect base for real nature experiences.
