Hike the “green corridor” up to Varden

When staying in Molde, you have easy access to the mountains. The small peaks surrounding the town are easy for children and adults to reach and require no more than a pair of good shoes. The most famous mountain is called Varden. The trail starts at Scandic Alexandra Hotel in the town centre and is well-signposted. On your hike, you will pass the Chateau, a listed manor house with a garden from 1918. Continue up through Reknes Park. Over the pavilion, at Rekneshaugen's lookout point, you can point out the peaks of Molde panorama from the rotating plate. The hike continues through the open-air museum Romsdalsmuseet. On your way up, you can take a breather at Storlihytta before the final climb. Once you reach the peak, you will be rewarded with a view of Molde town, the fjord, and the famous Molde panorama with 222 mountain peaks. If you look to the west, you can also see the sea. The hike to the top takes approximately one hour.

Nausta – a floating sauna

Once back in the centre, it's time for a dip in the fjord! Thanks to the floating sauna Nausta, you can take a fjord bath in Molde all year round. The sauna is located on the seafront in the town centre, with a spacious cloakroom and shower facilities. It has large windows with an open view of the fjord and mountains. The sauna can be privately booked for up to 12 people on certain days. Or go for a more spontaneous drop-in – it is easy to get chatting with other bathers!
