Photo tour in the centre of Molde

A trip is best remembered with good photos. Here are some suggestions for good photo spots in the centre of Molde.

The Town Hall roof

Only a few people know about the park on the roof of Molde Town Hall. It is a slightly extended part of the square in front of the small cathedral, with benches, rose beds, and an excellent overview. From here, you can see the town from above, with the iconic fjord and the surrounding mountains as a backdrop. You will also find a familiar figure in the town hall square: Rosepiken (the Rose Girl).

The seafront and Jazzgutten (the Jazz Boy)

A longitudinal harbour promenade stretches along the entire southern side of Molde centre, offering an open view towards the sea. You will find several well-suited motifs for your camera, and the town and surrounding areas can be captured from several angles. The bronze sculpture of a young man playing the saxophone, Jazzgutten, is standing in the lower square.

Seilet Hotel

A photo stop at Seilet is a must when you are in Molde. Seilet is one of the town’s signal buildings and the tallest building in Molde, with 82 metres and 16 floors. A part of the hotel is placed by the Romsdalsfjord, with a stunning view of the surrounding Romsdal Alps with 222 mountain peaks.

Hike “the Green Corridor”

The green corridor is a nature trail running from the seafront of Molde to the vantage point of Varden. Starting your hike, you will pass the Chateau, a listed manor house with a garden from 1918. Shortly afterwards, you pass the pavilion at Rekneshaugen viewpoint. All these are excellent photo spots on your way up to the nearby mountain peak Varden, where you can enjoy the full spectrum of Molde Panorama!

Romsdal Museum

The outdoor area of the open-air museum Romsdalsmuseet is located behind the town centre, and you will pass this on your way up to Varden. A collection of authentic old houses from the area is placed here, with a reconstructed town street leading to the museum building Krona.

See the town from a ferry deck

If you want to see the town from the sea, you can end your tour with a ferry ride on the Moldefjord. Going with the ferry is free for passengers and will give you an excellent view of the town and the surrounding area.
