July festivals:

Music, coastal vibes and summer magic in Sunnhordland

July in Sunnhordland is high season for festivals – a time when fjords, harbours and hillsides come alive with music, food, and community. From major headline acts to soulful harbour concerts, the region offers unforgettable experiences framed by the beauty of Norway’s west coast.

In the village of Våge on the island of Tysnes, Tysnesfest takes place from 10–13 July, transforming the area into a buzzing festival town. The 2025 lineup features stars like Tom Jones, Stavangerkameratene, Di Derre, Vassendgutane, Carina Dahl, Vinni, and more – performing on waterfront stages surrounded by spectacular scenery. But Tysnesfest is more than concerts: expect a full family-friendly programme with a Døds Challenge, “Ta Sjansen” race, a funfair, market days, children’s zone, and a boat parade. It’s a summer celebration for all generations.

Earlier in the month, from 3–5 July 2025, music lovers head to the fjord village of Skånevik for the Skånevik Blues Festival. With an intimate setting and a warm, passionate crowd, this festival delivers world-class blues, rock, and soul performances in one of Norway’s most scenic spots. Known for drawing both international names and national favourites, it’s a must for blues enthusiasts.

On 18 July, a more mellow but equally powerful moment awaits in Bekkjarvik, where Sivert Høyem – former frontman of Madrugada – performs an atmospheric summer concert in the Inner Harbour. Backed by the sea and sky, Høyem will present both new material and beloved classics like “Prisoner of the Road” and “Majesty” in what promises to be a truly memorable evening.

Wherever you went in Sunnhordland in July, you’ll find music, connection, and unforgettable moments – surrounded by mountains, sea, and the warmth of West Norwegian summer life.
