At the end of the island Godøy lies the picturesque fishing village Alnes. The small community was earlier one of the largest fishing villages in the entire Sunnmøre region, and has got a unique and vulnerable nature and culture.

From Alnes, you have a view of the rough ocean right in front of you, and the houses by the shore are situated in cosy little yards. The area has got a beautiful and varied terrain for walks, both in the mountain and on the beaches. There are both sandy beaches and pebbled beaches at Alnes.

Here you also find a protected lighthouse. The original lighthouse was built in 1876, and was run by the local population. Today's lighthouse is from 1937, and is 22 metres tall. The protected building is open for guided tours during the summer, and in the former living quarters you can buy arts and crafts and try some delicious home made cakes.
