Welcome to Cider Tasting at Haug Gard - Odelsgut
Join Odelsgut for a flavourful and historic journey through fruit farming, Norwegian cider production and family history at Odelsgut in Sogn. During this 1.5-hour experience, you will learn about the farm, fruit growing and the craft of making cider – and, of course, taste several local cider products.
What can you expect?
During the cider tasting, you will join a tour of the farm and discover its fascinating family history, which dates back to the Battle of Fimreite in 1184. You will also learn about Sogn’s long tradition of fruit farming and how local fruit is transformed into handcrafted Norwegian cider.
The experience takes place in peaceful and idyllic surroundings, surrounded by nature and orchards.
What does the cider tasting include?
The experience lasts approximately 1.5 hours and combines history, a farm tour, fruit farming and cider tasting. You will taste several types of handcrafted and award-winning cider, accompanied by a small platter of finger food.
The owner Alexander will be your host and guide throughout the experience.
Do I need to be a cider expert?
No. The cider tasting is suitable for everyone. You do not need any previous knowledge about cider or tasting. All you need is curiosity and an interest in experiencing local Norwegian cider and culture.
For those who prefer not to drink alcohol, a selection of handcrafted non-alcoholic apple juice is also available.
Why is Sogn known for fruit and cider?
Sogn has a long tradition of fruit farming. The climate and natural conditions along the Sognefjord provide excellent conditions for growing apples and other fruit, which are also used in local cider production.
At Odelsgut, you can get close to this tradition and learn how local fruit is transformed into cider.

How to get to Fimreite:
There are many ways to get to Fimreite, which is located only 21 km outside the center of Sogndal. - Car - Boat - Bicycle - Electric bike that you can hire from the center of Sogndal, Lemhyttene or Vesterland. Back to Sogndal with Fjord X (must be ordered from us as an add-on)
