Being one of the very few textile companies with production in Norway, Dale of Norway are able to pay close attention to every stage of the production. This ensures premium quality in every garment – a Dale of Norway trademark since 1879.

Over the past 140 years, they have developed their own designs, and redesigned age-old Norwegian patterns, turning them into garments for fashion and sport with an authentic history. Since 1956 they have been outfitting the national Norwegian ski team with official sweaters for all Winter Olympic Games and World Championships.

Back in 1879 the small village of Dale was as an ideal place to establish a premium textile production facility utilizing the valley's potential for natural hydro power, the easy access to Norwegian wool and strong knitting traditions.

And now, in a way, life has come full circle. With rising focus and concern on sustainability, origin of raw materials and workers welfare, the world is slowly, but surely, turning towards products and producers with greener credentials. Being rediscovered as a sustainable and remarkably practical fibre, wool is back in fashion. And with a production still powered by local waterfalls Dale of Norway continues to make premium, stylish, long-lasting garments of 100% wool.

Dale of Norway Concept Stores in Bergen and Oslo

With a collection spanning from light and sporty next-to-skin sweaters made of super soft merino wool to toasty sweaters and jacket made of 100% Norwegian wool, the brand's Concept Stores are a perfect place to browse their collection. In Bergen the Concept Store is located in the Lagunen shopping centre, while the Oslo store is located on the high street, Karl Johans gate.

The Dale of Norway Factory Outlet and museum

The best way to experience the brand, its history and collection is to visit their factory located in the tiny village of Dale, just outside Bergen. This has been the location of the factory since the start-up in 1879. Here you can make a bargain on premium knitwear knitted literally just feet away from the Outlet – and get a unique insight in Norwegian textile history at the same time.

All visitors to the Factory Outlet are granted free access to parts of the Factory Museum, like the exhibition of official Olympic- and World Championship sweaters from 1956 to present

A complete guided tour of the museum, including a visit to their working factory, is offered. Please note that a guided tour must be booked in advance (NOK 60,- per adult, free entrance for kids).
