Drågen Smokehouse
At the outer edge of the Romsdal coast, where the iconic Atlantic Road begins, lies one of Norway's oldest and most traditional fishing villages. This is home to Drågen Smokehouse, a modern salmon smokehouse with deep roots in local history and tradition.
It all started in 1983, when founder Petter Aune travelled to Alaska to work as a fisherman. In 2009, he established Drågen Smokehouse on the island of Drågen. In spring 2026, the concept expanded, and Drågen Smokehouse moved into the Hustadvika Tourist Center with a state-of-the-art smokehouse right in the centre of Bud. Here you'll also find one of Norway's finest mineral museums, a café, a local food shop, and a souvenir shop.
Free parking and five toilets with free entry.
Guided tour of the smokehouse
Drågen Smokehouse welcomes both small and large groups. The smokehouse is located in the heart of the charming fishing village of Bud and can host up to 200 people. In the factory outlet, you'll find products you won't find anywhere else – perfect if you want to bring home something genuine and local. During the tour, you'll hear the story behind the smokehouse and get insight into the process from raw ingredient to finished product. The tasting experience lasts about an hour and can be adapted for all age groups.
The house specialty is our fish soup with cod, smoked salmon, and shrimp.
Sustainability
