Venjesdalen valley is one of the most popular outdoor recreation areas in Romsdalen – and little wonder. The valley is surrounded by some of Romsdalen’s most well-known mountains. It’s easy to get to Venjesdalen, whether you set off from Isfjorden or Åndalsnes. Follow the river Glutra from Isfjorden to Remmabrauta, where you turn right past the go-cart track and continue on to Liabygda at the top of the hill. From there, turn off onto the private summer pasture road up Venjesdalen valley. Venjedalssetra summer pasture farm is situated in the middle of the valley, and is the starting point for the walk across Romsdalseggen ridge. Continue to the top and you will see Venjedalsvatnet lake to your right, where you can take a break by the water’s edge. Continue to the car park and sign at the foot of Litlefjellet. You can continue on foot to the plateau at Litlefjellet, an easy walk of around 20 minutes. The plateau offers what must be the most spectacular view in the whole of Romsdalen.
