Along the fjord there are many hamlets and farms. Most of these farms are deserted, and they now serve as reminders of people's toil and challenges in former times. The water in the fjord is frequently coloured light green because of the glacial melt water.

At the head of the fjord you find interesting attractions such as The Norwegian Glacier Museum and The Norwegian Book Town. Formerly the only way to travel to Fjærland was by boat, but now highway 5 connects the village to Sogndal and Skei/Førde.

Arrival Fjærland

On arrival Fjærland, bus will take you to the Norwegian Glacier Museum. The Norwegian Glacier Museum is an interactive museum for the Whole Family, who gives you knowledge about glaciers and climate in New innovative ways.

From the Norwegian Glacier Museum the tour continues up to Bøyabreen glacier – a branch of Jostedalsbreen glacier.

Here you can take some photos and see how the glacier presses itself into the landscape.
