The view from Goksøyra towards Eikedalsvatnet makes this a popular hike year-round. The hike is steep and demanding, suitable for those with mountain hiking experience.

Hike description

Initially, a steep and good trail up through the forest to Ufssalen (546 meters above sea level). Then mountain terrain along a good trail up to about 800 meters above sea level. From there, follow cairns to the summit. From the top of Goksøyra, you have a fantastic view.

The trail follows a good path all the way to about 800 meters above sea level. On the small knoll you pass at 781 meters above sea level, you can choose to ascend the slightly steeper rocky knoll instead of continuing on the path. However, the easiest and lightest route is to follow the path. After it disappears into the terrain, veer slightly upwards to the right. Keep to the right of the large basin (Kvilhaugbotnen) and continue up to a flat ridge formation. Here, ascend along the left side of the stream. Some cairns show the way. In the next basin, there is a snowdrift. You can cross it directly or follow the stone ridge on the left side. Once you've passed the snowfield, you're almost there. The first thing you'll see is the large mast; the summit cairn on Goksøyra lies just to the right of it. The view may take your breath away!
