Sit back and enjoy the ride as you are guided through history from the Viking Age up until today's world-class offshore industry. Karmøy has a rich culture and coastal history. It was here that Harald Fairhair established the country's first throne at Avaldsnes, and united Norway into one kingdom.

Åkrasanden beach, the Statue of Liberty and St. Olav's Church

During this spectacular tour that’s packed with photo opportunities, there will be three short stops where you can leave the bus and take in the beautiful surroundings. These stops are at Visnes, Åkrasanden beach and St. Olav's Church. At Visnes, you will see the copper from the copper mines used to make the symbol of the United States: The Statue of Liberty. The copper works at Visnes were the biggest and most modern in Northern Europe in their day. The next stop is Åkrasanden beach, which surprises many visitors with their first stroll along the beach. It’s like the beaches are smiling at the ocean with their wonderful white sand. Åkrasanden beach has been named Norway's finest beach multiple times and has blue flag certification. Your local guide will tell you about the local history as you stroll along the beach listening to the sound of the waves.

There will be a short stop at St. Olav's Church on the return journey, a chance to see the Virgin Mary needle, a 7.2-metre-high stone on the north side of the church. Legend has it that doomsday will come when the top of the needle touches the church wall. The church, built in 1250, is an important stop for pilgrims on their way to Nidaros in the north.

Skudeneshavn

The turning point and main stop of the tour is at the southernmost point of Karmøy: Skudeneshavn. You’ll have time to explore this charming sailing ship town, which is known as the white-painted empire-style town. Unassuming, proud and picturesque. Soak up the special atmosphere and the beautiful architecture as you wander through the narrow streets and enjoy newly made waffles and coffee at the ‘world's smallest café.’ Filled with new memories and impressions, the bus will return you to the starting point of the tour.
