Kristiansund – the reconstruction city
Large parts of Kristiansund were bombed during World War II, and many of the original wooden houses were destroyed. The post-war reconstruction shaped the city with clean lines, functional forms and bold colours.
Architectural walk
This guided walk highlights the unique architecture of the city centre and includes a visit to the former opera house, Festiviteten, an elegant example of Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) architecture.
You’ll also experience the city’s bold, modern architecture with a visit to the new Campus Kristiansund and Normoria, the newly opened opera and cultural centre. These buildings represent a striking new chapter in the city’s urban development.
Normoria Cultural Centre
This vibrant hub houses Norway’s oldest opera, the National Ballet Centre, a music and culture school, the public library and the regional museum Nordmørsmusea with its exhibitions.
There is also a café where you can enjoy fresh pastries and great coffee.
This tour must be booked in advance. Tailored experiences with music, dance and refreshments can also be arranged on request.
