The hike to Blåfjell starts from the parking area at Askvoll Øvre and ascends steadily towards the summit at 533 metres above sea level. The first 800 metres follow the same trail as the route to Sandvika, before the path branches off and continues uphill.
After around 500 metres, you pass the tree line and the landscape opens up. From here, the rest of the hike continues through open and varied mountain terrain, where the views gradually widen with every step. The ground is mostly firm and easy to walk on, although you will also cross a few shorter sections of marshland.
Length of the hike
With a distance of 2.4 kilometres one way and a total ascent of 502 metres, this is a hike that requires good fitness and some time, estimated at around 2.5 hours to reach the top. In return, you are rewarded with calm and expansive views from the summit, where you can take in the characteristic fjord landscape of the area.
Season
The hike can be done from April to November, depending on conditions. Plan well, bring the necessary equipment, and enjoy a classic fjord Norway summit hike in authentic coastal nature.
