This impressive stone, 16 meters high, is a silent witness to a massive landslide that occurred many centuries ago.
A dramatic story
The legend tells of a grand wedding at a farm located just below Magnhildberget. The bride’s name was Magnhild, and the festivities lasted for several days. In the middle of the celebration, a huge landslide came crashing down from the mountain. The farm was destroyed, but the legend says that a small child miraculously survived. Since the bride’s name was Magnhild, it is said that the stone was named after her. And if you look closely, it’s said that Magnhild Stone clearly shows a female profile!
