Set in green surroundings in Molde, Krona is open year-round and houses exhibitions, a café and a museum shop. It serves as the gateway to the Romsdals Museum and is the natural starting point for your visit.
This award-winning timber building hosts the museum’s main exhibitions and offers insight into the history, culture and society of Romsdal – presented in an accessible and contemporary way. Here, past and present are brought together through both permanent and temporary exhibitions, with themes ranging from everyday life and coastal culture to social development and identity.
The exhibitions are designed to suit different types of visitors – whether you wish to spend time exploring in depth or are just stopping by briefly.
At Café Mali, you can enjoy light lunches, cakes and coffee. The café also functions as a welcoming meeting place and a venue for small events. Nearby, you’ll find the museum shop, offering souvenirs and gifts, many of them created by local artisans and designers.
Krona also houses a dedicated bunad workshop, part of the Économusée network. Here you can see how the traditional Veøy bunad is made, with craftsmanship and tradition at the heart of the experience.
The museum library has been renewed into a spacious and inviting space, featuring an extensive collection of local history literature. The Romsdal Archive is now digitally accessible, providing easy access to historical materials.
Krona is open throughout the year and can be visited in any season. The building is fully accessible and well suited for individual visitors, families and groups alike. Throughout the year, lectures, guided tours and smaller events are also held here.
