From coast to World Heritage
This round trip takes you from the art nouveau town of Ålesund to the world-famous Geirangerfjord through a landscape of fjords, mountains and vibrant local communities. The journey combines a boat trip on the Hjørundfjord with a scenic bus ride through Norangsdalen and onwards to Hellesylt and Geiranger. Along the way, you will experience some of the most remarkable natural and cultural landscapes in Sunnmøre.
Hjørundfjord, Geiranger and Ørnesvingen
The tour includes several highlights. From the boat on the Hjørundfjord, you will enjoy views of the dramatic Sunnmøre Alps and the small villages scattered along the fjord. The journey then continues through the distinctive Norangsdalen valley before giving you time to explore both Hellesylt and Geiranger at your own pace.
On the return journey, you will stop at one of the region’s most famous viewpoints – Ørnesvingen (Eagle Bend) – where panoramic views of the Geirangerfjord and the Seven Sisters waterfall await.
A day filled with experiences
Combining boat, bus and ferry travel, this tour offers a varied introduction to the fjord landscapes of Sunnmøre. With several stops along the way, you will have time to experience both the scenery and the communities that have developed between fjord and mountain. It is an ideal choice for those who want to see a lot in one day without having to organise the transport themselves.
Practical information
This is a full-day tour with experiences both on land and at sea, so it is recommended to dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. The tour starts in Ålesund town centre, and participants should arrive well before departure.
In Geiranger, you will have around two hours of free time to explore the village, enjoy the views or visit a café or restaurant. Food and drinks can also be purchased on board the boats during the journey.
