Experience the spectacular view on a ski ascent to Keipen (1,417 masl)

Parking
When driving towards Sværefjorden, turn off the main road at Dale and follow the gravel road uphill. At the farmyard, you pay a toll and continue up to Dalsdalen. You can park either at the information board (290 m above sea level) or continue to the parking area at the end of the road (330 m above sea level).
The Ascent to Keipen
From the parking area, follow the trail up to Påfunn. Here you cross the river and continue through the terrain to the end of Dalsvotni. Then head toward the mountain ridge at Keipen, continue toward Bjørnabreen glacier, and circle around it back to Keipen.
The Ski Route
At approximately 660 m above sea level, leave the trail and head in the direction of Bjørnabreen. Once on the glacier (1,430 m above sea level), follow the mountain ridge out to Keipen.
Be aware that you must cross several streams on the way up, so adapt your footwear to the conditions.
Difficulty
A very demanding tour with an elevation gain of nearly 1,500 meters from the fjord. Requires excellent physical condition and experience from high mountain terrain. There may be avalanche-prone sections.
Equipment
Randonnée skis or sturdy mountain skis with climbing skins are strongly recommended due to the steep ascent. A shovel and avalanche transceiver are recommended in this terrain.
