From the information board, follow the signs onto the tractor road. A little way up the hillside, the trail turns into a well-marked path that winds its way up through beautiful terrain. Skomakarnibba is a steep rock shelf (‘nose’ that sticks out). Legend has it that a shoemaker had to sit here and repair a pair of shoes as punishment. Almost finished, he lost his needle and saw no other way out than to jump after it! Be careful out here and keep an eye on the children. A good alternative for the return trip is the marked trail down to the Bala farm. This makes for a nice round trip with about a 5-minute walk back to the car.
