This is where Edvard Grieg lived with his wife, Nina Grieg. Edvard Grieg is Norway’s most famous and influential composer, and Troldhaugen is a pilgrimage site for Grieg enthusiasts from around the world. Today, Troldhaugen consists of the villa, the composer’s hut, and the couple’s gravesite, as well as a modern museum building with a café and the concert hall Troldsalen. The site opened as a museum in 1928.
Summer Program 2026
This season, Troldhaugen will offer concerts, an open museum and café, as well as outdoor activities and events.
From 9 June onward, Kode presents three daily 30-minute concerts in the beautiful Troldsalen, featuring Edvard Grieg’s music performed by young award-winning pianists, from Tuesday to Sunday.
There will also be daily guided tours of the extensive grounds, where visitors can learn more about Nina and Edvard Grieg and life at Troldhaugen.

For the 12:00 concert the bus departs from the Rasmus Meyer building at 10:30. Return from Troldhaugen departs at 13:00.
For the 14:00 concert the bus departs from the Rasmus Meyer building at 12:30. Return from Troldhaugen departs at 15:00.

Please note: Grieg’s villa is undergoing restoration this summer, and is closed for visitors.
Private concerts and events the Edvard Grieg Museum Troldhaugen:
A private concert and tour will give any event that added extra. Intimate concerts for up to 40 guests can be held in Edvard Griegs old living room, with music played on Grieg’s Steinway grand piano from 1892.
The concert hall Troldsalen next door is perfect for events between 40 and 190 people. Troldsalen is constructed particularly with chamber music in mind and you can listen to Edvard Grieg’s music while enjoying the very scenery that once inspired him in his work.
A concert may be combined with dinner at the restaurant “Troldhaugen”, with a capacity for 50 + 30 for a seated dinner.
Meetings and conferences at Edvard Grieg Museum Troldhaugen:
The beautiful Troldsalen is also perfectly suited for meetings and conferences in cinema style settings. A meeting here often includes a cultural element - which gives a nice added touch to any meeting. Capacity for meetings: 150 people.
