Vågsberget is one of the most well-preserved inns and trading posts of its kind along the Norwegian coast. Here, travellers could find safe harbour and a bed to sleep in. Vågsberget was well placed near the rich fisheries around Toskangerpollen and Vågsvågen, and therefore played an important role in the handling and processing of fish. Guides will take you through the splendid main building and the ample general store, giving you a glimpse into historical daily life.

For those who want to relax, the outdoor area is perfect for picnics or a nice walk. The administration building offers art and cultural history exhibitions through the season. Vågsberget is a meeting place for tradition and history, with something for visitors of all ages.

Family activities:

At Vågsberget, the whole family can go bingo-hunting along the shore. You can borrow a net and bucket at the reception, and go looking for the species in the bingo leaflet. Young explorers who manage to find them all can expect a small prize!

Guided tour:

All museum visitors will be offered a guided tour with our museum host – a memorable journey through history featuring the splendid main building and the ample general store.

Food and drinks:

Vågsberget has a café which offers local cakes and pancakes, as well as hot and cold beverages. We have lactose-free and gluten-free options. Have a cup of coffee while enjoying our beautiful outdoor area with its park, beach, and restrooms.

Season and opening hours:

The museum is open during the summer season from 18. June to 17. August. Please visit their website for information on opening hours.

Accessibility:

The administration building is wheelchair-accessible, but the main building and the general store have stairs and tall thresholds.

Getting there:

Vågsberget is about 5 km from the Måløy town centre. Follow the signs towards Kannesteinen and Vågsberget.

There are plenty of other activities near Vågsberget. You can visit the Kannesteinen rock, 5 km from Vågsberget, and at the Måløy Raid Center in Måløy you can learn more about the Allied attack on German forces stationed there during WW2.
