Via Ferrata Ingadalen is an easy route suitable for families with children, and for beginners looking for an easy introduction to climbing. Everyone climbs with an approved climbing harness, helmet and via ferrata lanyard (fall protection). If you don’t have your own equipment, this can be rented from Åkrafjorden Nature.
The climbing route is situated on the south side of the E134 road and can be seen from the area outside Åkrafjorden Nature B&B. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the start of the route. The view is great, with Rullestad to the east, Fjæra and the Åkrafjord to the west, and the mighty Kyrkjeveggen rock face to the north. Once you’ve finished the climb, a marked trail leads you back to the starting point. If you want even more of a challenge, take a shortcut over a 30-metre-long gorge on a hanging bridge. At a child-friendly pace, the entire roundtrip takes about two hours, but may take longer depending on how long you spend admiring the views and the surroundings.
All climbers must register with Åkrafjorden Nature and pay a climbing fee.
