Provider: Norled. The ferry from Stavanger to Tau is a car ferry running all year. The ferry leaves from Fiskepiren in Stavanger, and the crossing takes around 35-40 minutes.
Timetable
On weekdays there are departures every 40 minutes, while there are fewer departures on Saturdays and Sundays. There are also some departures during the night, however with 1 ½ hours between departures. Some ferries have kiosk, with both hot and cold dishes. For timetable, clik on Visit website.

Starting point for hike to Preikestolen
The ferry is one of the starting points for the hike to Preikestolen when travelling from Stavanger. From Tau, you go by bus/coach to Preikestolen Mountain lodge, which is the starting point for the hike. The buses/coaches are available between April and September each year. In low season, you must go by taxi from Tau to Preikestolen Mountain Lodge.
