Vitengarden is an exciting science centre and museum located in Nærbø and Jaeren, one of the largest agicultural areas in Norway. Interactive exhibitions outdoor and indoor lets you discover topics such as the agriculture, modern food production, energy, technology, science and nature. Here is also a museum farm with many different farm animals, and hay to jump and play in.
At Vitengarden, visitors are invoted to be active and to explore natural science and history in new and engaging ways. Where does our food come from –and how long to you have to ride a bicycle to get rid of the food you have eaten? Can you pack cheese faster than the robot? And how do you make to perfect biogas? And are you able to stand still in the hurricane? Explore this and much more at Vitengarden.
The exhibitions are both indoor and outdoor. Some of the most popular activities are the wind machine, the water experiments, the dark tunnel and the farm animals.
Vitengarden has also one of the largest collection of agricultural machinery in Norway. In one of the exhibitions, you can study over 30 different tractors – from the first that came to the country around 1910 to those that were produced in the 1960s.
In spring and summer, barbecues are available for the visitors. There is a cafè that serves warm and cold dishes, as well as refreshings drinks, ice creams and cakes.
Vitengarden is part of Jærmuseet, a regional museum for the municipalities Randaberg, Sola, Sandnes, Gjesdal, Klepp, Time and Hå. The museum was named “Museum of the Year 2009” in Norway and also received the European Micheletti Award 2009” for one of Europe’s best technology museums.

Garborgheimen, TimeGarborgheimen was the childhood home of author Arne Garborg (1851-1924), built by his parents Ane Oline and Eivind Aadneson Garborg in 1848. The family sold the house and farm in 1869.

Vistnestunet, RandabergVistnestunet is a nice, old farm near the sea in Randaberg and is open to school classes and groups. During the year activity days are hold and open for everyone.
Jærruta, HåJærruta is a suggestion for a 4-days’ bike tour for the entire family. It covers the whole of Jæren between Sola and Egersund. You can choose to bike southwards from Sola or northwards from Egersund. The stages are short, and it is possible with other activities along the route
Jærruta, Hå14 miles on pleasant roads in open countryside. The Jærruta is a bicycle ride for the whole family, and goes on a mix of bike paths and low-traffic roads. The route goes from Sola to Eigersund through the municipalities of Klepp, Time and Hå. There are up to four stages with three nights.
