At Eikesdal Camping, there is a simple, calm, and harmonious atmosphere with a focus on nature.
Location and Attractions
Eikesdal Camping is located close to Eikesdalsvatnet, the Aura River, and the Eikesdal Guesthouse. The campsite is 3.5 km from Mardalen, where you can park your car and take an easy hike to Mardalsfossen, the longest waterfall in Northern Europe.
From Finset, you can drive the beautiful route over the mountain, Aursjøvegen. The road offers a fantastic view of Eikesdalen! On the way up to the mountain, you’ll find kettle holes (jettegryter) right by the road with crystal-clear water. Be sure to stop at Aurstaupet, located at 950 meters above sea level, also right by the road.
The Campsite
There are 40 permanent year-round spaces for caravans, parking spots for "drop-in" guests with caravans, motorhomes, tents, etc., and 6 cabins with 4 beds in each cabin. There is a shared sanitary facility with toilets, showers, a kitchen, and a washing machine. The Eikesdal Guesthouse is located 200 meters from the campsite.
Hiking Tips
From Finset, you can take a beautiful hike to Slette. This trail is also great for biking. On the way up to Finset, you’ll come across Litlvannet, which offers world-class paddling conditions. During high water flow in the spring and early summer, channels form into the forest, which is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, or stand-up paddleboarding.
The area has many more challenging mountain hikes. Eikesdalen is a valley surrounded by mountain peaks over 1,000 meters high. Katthammaren has become a popular hiking destination, also for base jumping. In 2018, a world record was set with 69 base jumpers who jumped off and down the overhanging rock wall.
Hiking up Sandgrovskaret and to the top of Mardalsfossen and Goksøyra are also popular hikes for experienced hikers.

Season
Eikesdal Camping is open seasonally from around May 1st until the end of September. Spring, summer, and autumn are all fantastic in their own way.
