This cosy cabin is situated at an altitude of almost 1,000 metres above sea level and is beautifully situated by Lake Langavatnet in the Frafjordheiane Landscape Conservation Area. Here you can truly find peace and quiet, close to the mountains and with stunning views down the valley towards Lake Rundavatnet.
There are several ways to get to Langavatn, but the shortest route is from the car park by the barrier at Åkslaråtjørna – from here, it’s about one to two hours’ walk to the cabin.
Hikes and activities
Many people combine a visit to Langavatn with a summit hike to Kjerag and the famous Kjeragbolten. From the cabin, it takes about three hours to walk to Kjerag, and it’s perfect to spend the night here if you want to make the most of your trip.
Langavatn lies on the spectacular route around Lysefjorden, and there are marked trails to the tourist cabins at Flørli and Lysebotn.
Food and accommodation
Langavatn tourist cabin is a self-catering cabin, meaning it is equipped with a storeroom containing a selection of simple food items for sale. There is no mains electricity or running water, but there is a gas hob for cooking, firewood for lighting a fire and candles. Water can be collected from a natural spring. The cabin is otherwise equipped with everything you need for cooking and your stay: kitchenware, crockery, duvets and pillows. You must bring your own sleeping bag liner or bed linen.
