Vetti Gard Tourist Station – Årdal

Deep in Utladalen, at the gateway to Jotunheimen National Park, lies Vetti Gard Tourist Station – a truly special place for those who want to get close to nature.

The farm has welcomed mountain travelers since the 19th century and has long been a natural stop for pioneers, adventurers, and visitors heading into Jotunheimen. Among those who found their way here was Edvard Grieg, who said he felt ten years younger every time he visited.

Today, Vetti Gard is a place for peace, closeness to nature, and authentic experiences – far from noise and busy crowds.

Stay & Capacity

Vetti Gard welcomes guests during the summer season from June to September and offers simple, charming accommodation in historic surroundings:

Rooms in the farmhouses (single, twin, and family rooms)
Dormitory accommodation in the barn with mattresses
Around 40 beds in total
Daytime kiosk (12:00–17:00)

Here, you stay simply – but with an experience that no modern hotel can replace.

Experiences in the Area

Vetti is a perfect starting point for exploring some of Norway’s most dramatic landscapes:

  • Hike to Vettisfossen
  • Continue deeper into Utladalen
  • Summit hikes and longer mountain treks in Jotunheimen

The silence, scenery, and history make your stay much more than just a place to sleep.

Food & Atmosphere

After a day in the mountains, you can enjoy a hearty meal at the farm. Everything here is about authenticity and closeness – good flavors, a calm pace, and an atmosphere you won’t find in many other places.

Vetti Gard is open from mid-June to early September and is perfectly suited as part of a longer fjord and mountain holiday in the region.
