Two countries, one island – and melodic hard rock echoing across the fjord!
In spring 2025, the Norwegian–Swedish duo Auntie G and Markus Kinell released the album The Road and the Roar – an album that has received great feedback both locally and from various radio stations.
Now they are performing for the very first time at Mandelhuset on Tysnes! Expect an evening filled with melodic hard rock – soaring melodies, thunderous riffs and lyrics that hit you right in the gut.
Check out the music on Spotify here.
AUNTIE G
Auntie G (Gjertrud Coutinho) is a vocalist and songwriter from Stord, now living in Bergen. She often passes through Tysnes on her way to and from her cabin – and is truly excited to finally take the stage at Mandelhuset.
She has a versatile musical background, with roots in gospel, blues and country. But it wasn’t until 2022, when Kinell invited her to write lyrics and sing on one of his instrumental rock tracks, that something truly electric began.
Since then, the duo has released several singles, an EP and an album. In 2023, Auntie G was nominated for Best International Female at the Radio WigWam Awards in England.
MARKUS KINELL
Markus Kinell, based in Sweden, is travelling to Tysnes for the occasion. With musical inspiration from bands like Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Nightwish, his compositions gain a new dimension with Auntie G’s melodic vocals.
This evening you’ll hear many tracks from The Road and the Roar, combined with some of the duo’s personal favourites from earlier releases.
A BIG SOCIAL MEDIA RESPONSE
Auntie G has created major engagement on social media, where several of the songs have gone viral – reaching up to half a million plays!

We always have free tickets available for anyone who needs them. We want everyone to experience live music, even if a concert ticket isn’t something they can prioritise right now.
COMING FROM BERGEN FOR THE SHOW?
We recommend enjoying a delicious dinner at Mandelhuset before the concert. (The food is genuinely great!)
The schedule is planned so you have time for both dinner and the concert if you take the ferry from Halhjem to Våge at 15:15. You’ll have time for dinner + concert before the return ferry at 20:30. (Concert starts at 18:30.)
You can leave your car at the Halhjem ferry quay if you prefer. Alternatively take the bus from Bergen Bus Station to Halhjem ferry quay. (The ferry is free for passengers.)
Mandelhuset is beautifully located right by the sea, just one minute from the ferry quay at Våge on Tysnes.
PS: Double-check departures at Skyss.no. Schedule changes may occur.
Alternatively, you can hang with us at Mandelhuset after the concert and continue the evening in the bar – the last ferry to Halhjem departs at 22:10.
