“Kveldslys” – Evening Light
Kveldslys. Taste the word. Evening is approaching. Darkness is falling. Yet there is still light — a warm, gentle glow.
Britt-Synnøve Johansen is the small woman with the great voice and a rare gift for storytelling. She has sung Edith Piaf in Norwegian, tango in Norwegian, and her own and others’ music filled with deep emotion.
On her latest release, Kveldslys, the atmosphere is calmer. The lyrics are mature, wistful and reflective.
Yet the warmth remains — endlessly beautiful.
Like an evening bathed in soft light.
Kveldslys was recorded live with highly skilled and dedicated musicians. It is a vulnerable, intimate and honest album. Rooted in Norwegian folk songs, the music also reaches towards French chanson, jazz and Americana — all at once.
Britt-Synnøve is known for captivating her audience. With Kveldslys, she once again invites listeners to share songs and stories we can all recognise ourselves in.
