There are many ski festivals, but only one ski festival at Stranda – one of the most spectacular and exotic ski destinations on the planet. Here the snow can fall in such quantities that it is reminiscent of Alaska. Here the mountains are so spectacular that they can be reminiscent of British Columbia. Or as a legendary journalist in Åka Skidor wrote back in the 90s: “Stranda is the La Grave of the Nordics”.

He compared the ski resort at Strandafjellet to the iconic alpine destination of La Grave in France – where the mountains are sharp, the snow is deep and the pedal machines hardly get through. In La Grave, it is the off-piste that is most important. It's what happens off the slopes that matters.

That's how it is at Stranda, too.

So feel free to call us the La Grave of the North.

Every year we invite you to the Stranda Ski Festival to show off our mountains - and our skiing - to you and your friends. These days are sacred to us at Uteguiden. We may not be the world's largest ski festival, but we claim - with our hand on our heart - that we are one of the world's most spectacular ski festivals. Of course, it's mostly about the mountains and fjords that surround us. But it's also about us at Uteguiden: it's during these festival days in February that we want to show you everything we can, everything we do, all the tricks in the book, the most adventurous peaks, the secret descents in the ski resort, the nicest après-ski and the best lectures.
