Nature in focus

We are lucky to be surrounded by lots of fantastic scenery that makes for beautiful and dreamy photos for your feed. A rock formation with a beautiful view in Nedstrand, white sandy beaches on Karmøy, Dueglåp and Langåker and the lighthouses along the coast are locations that engage people and generate likes. And it’s not without reason that Langfoss waterfall has become a popular photo motif, as CNN ranked it one of the most beautiful in the world. The Coastal Trail just north of the centre of Haugesund offers lots of inspirational motifs, the most popular being ‘The Rising Tide’ in Kvalsvik.

Colourful memories

People enjoy seeing colourful motifs in photos. You’ll find the popular and colourful TIO chairs dotted across Haugalandet. The Town Hall in Haugesund is another Insta must – you do know that it’s pink right? And if that’s not enough, Haugesund even has an Insta-friendly multi-storey car park. Impossible, you say? Well check out the car park at Markedet!

If you go out to Utsira, you’ll discover world-class street art, and the Nyperosa and Havsula cabins make for arty photos in your feed. The taxis on Røvær are rather unusual and also make for fun photos. Haugesund’s perhaps most colourful house is home to Cupcakehuset, where both the building and the cupcakes are very photogenic. If you would really like to experience something out of the ordinary, you should visit Unni Marie Rosemaling in Ølen. Almost everything in Unni Marie’s house is covered in traditional rose painting, even the toilet!

A historical touch

You can’t take Insta friendly photos from Haugalandet without including motifs with a historical touch. Photos of Haraldshaugen are a must when you visit the Homeland of the Viking Kings. There are also lots of great motifs at Norway’s oldest royal seat Avaldsnes. Have you heard the saga about the Virgin Mary’s needle?

Visnes is another area steeped in history. You don’t have to go all the way to New York to snap the Statue of Liberty – there’s a mini version here! If you head to the south of Karmøy, Syreneset Fort and the wash house in Skudeneshavn are popular photo motifs.

Time for a selfie

It’s not enough to fill your feed with photos of beautiful surroundings, though. Sometimes a selfie is what’s needed. Smedasundet sound is one of the most recognisable features of Haugesund, and a selfie on Risøy bridge with the sound in the background is a must. If you walk on down to Indre Kai, Marilyn Monroe awaits you beside Quality Hotel Maritim. Have you ever taken a photo with a celebrity of that calibre before?

And remember to use the #visithaugesund hashtag when you share photos from Haugesund & Haugalandet!
