Kayaking

The unique coastal landscape is perfect for kayaking and canoeing. You can do a gentle kayaking trip in the archipelago or you can set off and explore the hundreds of islands in Fitjar and Bømlo. If there is a high pressure over the coast in winter, the sea is generally lovely and calm. If you have the right equipment, you can enjoy a different kind of kayaking trip.

Tips on hiring kayaks and canoes:

Årbakka Handelsstad – kayak(season May – Sept.)

Åkrafjorden oppleving – canoe and kayak

Olaskjeret - Austevoll Opplevelsessenter - kayak

Kråko gjestetun - canoe

Camp Ålfjorden - kayak, canoe and SUP-board

Experience the scenery along the coast and visit hidden gems by boat in Sunnhordland. From Bømlo, you can bring your family or friends on a fjord cruise on MS Venemøy past small coastal villages and on between the islands and skerries out near the ocean’s edge.

Åkrafjorden Oppleving organises fjord cruises from June-September to Langfoss in Etne, which was ranked one of the world’s most beautiful waterfalls by CNN Travel. They also organise tailored trips for groups, on the MS Stein Viking from April to October.
