Museum Stavanger (MUST) is a unique combination of museums
It is one of the few museum organisations in Norway that encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including natural history, cultural history, art history, as well as maritime and industrial heritage.
All the museums are located in or near Stavanger city centre (with the exception of Utstein Monastery, which is situated on the island of Mosterøy).
This is MUST:
- Stavanger Museum
- Stavanger Art Museum
- Stavanger Maritime Museum
- IDDIS – Norwegian Printing Museum and Norwegian Canning Museum
- Utstein Monastery
- Ledaal
- Holmeegenes
- Breidablikk
Several of the museums are located in historic buildings and surrounded by cultural heritage parks. MUST also maintains two historic vessels, Wyvern and Anna af Sand, and operates the Norwegian Bird Ringing Centre, which coordinates all scientific bird ringing in Norway. Revtangen Bird Observatory is located at Revtangen in Klepp municipality and can be visited on open days or by appointment. The museum also offers a specialist library open to both staff and external researchers.
