Join us on a pleasant tour with Bytoget through the streets of Haugesund, a relaxing and informative sightseeing trip suitable for both young and old. In about 70 minutes, you will see the highlights of the city, hear exciting stories from ‘Sildabyen’ (Herring Town) and learn how Haugesund grew with herring fishing and shipping. The tour has an audio guide in eight languages and a comfortable pace that allows you to sit back and enjoy the experience.

Where does the Haugesund City Train go?

The tour starts at the cruise terminal at Risøy and takes you at a leisurely pace through the streets and history of Haugesund. The first stop is charming Hasseløy, or ‘Bakarøyna’ as the locals say, before the train rolls north to Haraldsstøtta, where there is a 10-minute photo stop with great views and historical significance. From there, the journey continues back towards the city centre, through green park areas, along Smedasundet and past the beautiful, Italian-inspired town hall, which has previously been named Norway's finest. After passing Vår Frelsers Church from 1901, the train stops on the north side of the church, where it only takes 2-3 minutes to walk down to Haraldsgata, the city's shopping street. Here you can choose to get off and explore the city on your own (and take a later train to the cruise terminal) or return to the starting point at Risøy (the cruise quay).

How often does the Haugesund City Train depart?

The Haugesund City Train departs every 20 minutes from the cruise terminal at Risøy for the largest cruise calls, and every 30 minutes for smaller calls.

Where can I board, and what stops does the Haugesund City Train have?

The Haugesund City Train has two stops (in addition to the cruise terminal) where you can get on and off the train. These are north of Vår Frelsers Kirke (Our Saviour's Church) in Haugesund city centre and the Haraldshaugen national monument. Please note that you can only board the train at these locations if there is available capacity on the route.
