Engesund fiskeoppdrett visningssenter (aquaculture visitor centre)

The tour takes you through the beautiful archipelago of Fitjar, passing small islands and skerries on a boat trip from the centre of Fitjar to the visitor centre at Dyrholmen. Here, you can enjoy guided tours, sea lice games for children, trout tastings, and optional food service.

If you are lucky, you may even spot a white-tailed eagle soaring above the fjords along the way.

A visit to Engesund offers a unique insight into modern Norwegian aquaculture.

Included in the experience:

The guided experience usually lasts around 2 hours, depending on the programme and group size. Visits including food service typically last around 3 hours.

The visitor centre is suitable for all age groups, from families with young children to school groups, groups of friends, and senior visitors.

Open for guided visits all year round

Engesund visitor centre is open throughout the year, but all visits and guided tours must be booked in advance.

Guided tours are normally scheduled at 09:00 or 13:00, Monday to Friday. Alternative times can be arranged for larger groups or special requirements.

Summer opening hours 2026

From mid-June to mid-August:

  • Monday–Sunday: 10:00–18:00
  • Guided tours: 11:00 and 14:00
  • Café open: 12:00–17:00

During the rest of the year, tours and food service must be booked no later than the day before.
