The anorthosite extends along the west coast from Ogna in the north to Hidra in the south. 900 million years ago, this entire area was a huge magma chamber deep inside the earth's interior. In the east, the magma chamber is framed by Northern Europe's largest stratified intrusion. Many exciting geological processes have taken place here over 1 billion years ago, and the result is wild and untouched nature with unique minerals and rocks. Now, this landscape invites you to explore a variety of exciting activities.

Magma Geopark has developed 46 sites, all of which have been selected due to their completely unique natural and cultural heritage. These places show the diversity in the area and offer experiences for most people who are interested in the outdoors and exciting nature. From the slippery rocks and the wild coast to the mighty mountains and more than 6,000 lakes - only the imagination sets the limits for adventures in Magma UNESCO Global Geopark. You will also find the world's only sandy beach consisting of moonstone here – beautiful Skadbergsanden!
