The area around Fjøløy Fort is one of the region's newest and most exciting outdoor recreation areas. Out here by the Kvitsøyfjord, you can experience a little of Norway's wartime and post-war history combined with authentic nature experiences.

Parking and universally designed access roads are in place. Sheep are being used to maintain the landscape. Stavanger Tourist Association has ensured that the small crew house at the top of Storevarden is ready to offer simple accommodation.

The 270-acre fort offers many opportunities. Here you can go hiking, fishing, swimming, diving, sea kayaking and study the installations from the military period. Bunkers, trenches and parts of the military obstacle course await visitors. From the signal station at the top of Storevarden, you have a fantastic panoramic view. The old command bunker is located in the mountain below. Suitable for families with children. Fjøløy Lighthouse was established in 1849 as a fishing lighthouse, automated in 1977, and replaced by a beacon in 1983.
