Janus is one of the largest and oldest knitwear factories in Europe. The outlet is in the original factory built of wood, which dates back to 1895. It has an idyllic location on the riverbank. A visit to our factory outlet is a trip back in time. The walls are imbued with the true spirit of Norway's textile history. There are large-scale photographs displaying over a century of industrial history, the old machines and equipment used when the factory was run using water from the river.

The most important thing we as consumers can do for the climate when it comes to clothes is to buy durable clothing, as well as repair and recycle as much as possible. At the Factory, between 80-90% of the fabrics produced are used for clothing. What is left over is recycled into hand-knitting yarn. The actual cultural centre is on the first floor of this beautiful wooden factory, as a combined factory outlet, historical exhibition and great setting for concerts. Children: free entrance.
