Puttegga (1,999 metres above sea level) is the highest mountain in Møre og Romsdal, and many who visit the Pyttbua cabin have this very summit as their goal. The route is 11.4 kilometres there and back the same way, with 836 metres of ascent in total, and you should normally allow around six hours. The season runs from June to October.
This is a manageable hike for most people, since apart from a fair amount of scree there are no real difficulties along the way.
From Pyttbua you head due west and cross a bridge over the Puttåa river, just below the lake at 1,167 metres. There's a 400-metre climb up to the plateau at around 1,675 metres, so this stretch calls for a bit of a rest. After that comes the summit ridge to the top of Puttegga.
Note that the map track for this route is drawn somewhat roughly and is intended only as a guide. Make your own assessments and navigate by the actual signage, markings and terrain along the way.
