The tour starts in Stavanger city centre and begins with a more leisurely exploration of the city from the water’s edge, before the pace picks up as we head out towards Lysefjorden. The transition from city to open countryside happens quickly, and soon you’ll be surrounded by steep mountains and deep fjords.
On a RIB boat, you get up close to nature and into places that larger boats cannot reach. Along the way, you’ll see several of the fjord’s most famous landmarks, such as Preikestolen high above the fjord, the narrow Fantahåla cave and the mighty Hengjanefossen waterfall plunging down towards the water.
The boat stops at selected points, where the guide shares stories and local knowledge. The experience combines speed and nature with a good mix of calm stretches and more action-packed sections.
