Rugsund church

On the mainland side of Rugsund in Bremanger, stands Rugsund Church in a beautiful location with its main door facing the sea and a view across to Rugsundøya. The white wooden church was built in 1937. The churchyard surrounds the church and extends down toward the fjord.

What makes the church special is its rich interior from the expansion and restoration in 1912, featuring rosemaling, wood carving, and stained glass executed under the direction of artist Lars T. Kinsarvik. It is said that the interior is the most beautiful in Nordfjord. You can freely visit the church and walk around the outside. If you wish to go inside, we recommend checking opening hours or service times in advance.
