Ruten is located just by the central bus and train station and is merely a stone's throw from the main pedestrian street of Sandnes. The park has something on offer for both kids and adults. The combination of grass, trees, fountains, skatepark and open areas creates a green lung of versatile use. An enormous, iconic circle is the icing on the cake.

The architecture

The entire city space of Sandnes has been transformed with the project "Lysning" (translates to a clearing) won by architects Space Group/Superunion. A large illuminated circle constitute the frame of the town's park and area for festivities and is now a landmark that can be seen clearly from the air. Within the circle, you'll have room for organising a circus, the national day (17 May) as well as large outdoor concerts. The architects have emphasised that the space should be functional for both everyday and larger events usages. The train and bus stations are nearby.
