What is Litlabø Mining Museum
Set in the landscape on the island of Stord, Litlabø is a former mining community where traces of a life once lived deep underground are still visible.
At Litlabø Mining Museum, you get insight into the history of Stordø Kisgruber, where workers extracted sulphur ore from the mountain. You move between the physical remains and the stories – getting closer to both the working conditions and the small community that grew around the mines.
This is not a polished museum experience. What you see is largely left as it is – giving you a more honest understanding of what the industry once was.
