The Viking Farm at Bukkøy shows how ordinary people lived during the Viking Age. They were farmers, fishermen, craftsmen and traders. They were poets and explorers. It is this aspect of Viking life that you will learn more about at the Viking Farm at Avaldsnes. The Viking Farm has been reconstructed on the basis of archaeological finds made in Rogaland.

When is the Viking Farm open?

The Viking Farm is open to tourists during the summer season (mid-June to mid-August). Guided tours are available at set times. The emphasis is on bringing history to life, allowing visitors to touch and experience the historical elements. Vikings are also present, with some engaged in handicrafts or other activities. You can try your hand at many of the activities. For example, weather permitting, you can learn to shoot a bow and arrow, or try your hand at the games and pastimes the Vikings used to enjoy. Every year in June, Western Norway’s largest Viking festival is also held here.
