Viking House is a world-class visitor centre that tells the story of the Viking Age in the region through VR technology. Step aboard the Viking ship and join the adventure.

Travel back in time and experience the VR film ‘The First King’.

The film is based on the fantastic sagas of Harald Fairhair and the Battle of Hafrsfjord in 872, when Fairhair united Norway into one kingdom. You will experience exciting history and cultural heritage as you have never seen it before.

Viking souvenirs

In addition to the VR experience, you can see the beautiful premises with handmade wood carvings in traditional Viking style, meet the centre's own Vikings dressed in traditional clothing, or check out the great Viking-related souvenirs in the visitor centre's shop. Feel free to take a souvenir home with you.

What is VR?

VR stands for Virtual Reality. Virtual reality is all about creating convincing illusions. More specifically, the illusion of being present, really, physically present. You see this virtual reality through the use of VR glasses, which allow you to experience the film in 360 degrees and meet the Vikings face to face. This gives you the opportunity to learn about historical events in a whole new way.
