Vinnu originates from the glacier Vinnufonna, which is the largest glacier between Jostedalsbreen and Svartisen. The waterfall is located about 6km from Sunndalsøra, by the picnic area Holsskeiet at RV70.
An iconic photo object
Vinnu is a popular photo object in spring and summer. If you want to observe the waterfall at closer distance, it is possible to follow the marked path from Holsskeiet. The path has been cleared and it takes approximately 20 minutes to walk up to the foot of the waterfalls.
Sunndal with its mighty mountains has several world-class waterfalls. Not so well known and a little more hidden than Vinnu, is Skorga that falls 864 meters. It is Europe's second highest waterfall and is located about 2 km from Vinnufossen. In addition to Vinnu and Skorga, Sunndal also has Åmotan, which means river meeting. As many as 6 rivers meet with their waterfalls.
