Bakernes Paradis – a summer haven by the fjord

During the summer months, Kronen Gaard Hotel also operates Bakernes Paradis, a charming countryside retreat beautifully situated by the Høgsfjord, near Lysefjord. This historic site was once the summer haven of the Stavanger bakers’ guild, where bakers would retreat to enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside.

Today, the café is open every weekend throughout the summer season (see opening hours on the website), serving homemade fish soup, ice cream, and sweet treats in stunning natural surroundings. Visitors can combine a fjord adventure with authentic local food and a generous dose of Western Norway charm.

Overnight stays are also available in both houses and cabins – perfect for those wishing to extend their visit. Here, guests can truly experience the peace and magic of Lauvik and the Lysefjord. Whether waking to the sounds of birdsong and the soft morning light on the fjord, or ending the day with the evening sun and stillness, this is a place that leaves a lasting impression.

Whether visitors are seeking an active holiday, a peaceful weekend, or a base for unforgettable natural experiences, Kronen Gaard Hotel offers a warm welcome.
