The name The Dutch Quarter is based on the fact that Flekkefjord was doing business with Holland in the 16th and 17th centuries. They were mainly trading wood and fish. A lot of Dutch people settled in Flekkefjord and the surrounding areas.

Flekkefjord Museum is housed in a captain’s trading house that was built in 1724. It is probably the oldest house in Flekkefjord. The ground floor has been decorated as a mansion form the end of the 18th to the 19th century. In December 2021 the museum opened a local exhibition which is worth a visit or more! The exhibition gives you an overview of Flekkefjord’s history form prehistoric times to today, with a main focus on the last 200 years. Here all your senses will be involved!

Grand Hotell, which was built in 1897, is located in the middle of the Dutch Quarter. The hotel has a classic, historical, Swiss style, with octagonal towers and it is one of Flekkefjord’s most popular photo objects!

Enjoy a wonderful day in a magical place!
