The bathing area is located north of Haugesund city centre and has a bathing house with a fire pit, tables, a communal barbecue and toilets. Kvalsvik bathing area also has its own floating jetty for diving and other fun activities out in the sea. The outer part of the bay can be used by boats, but be aware that there can be strong currents here.

A stroll from Kvalsvik bathing area to Kvalen lighthouse, The Rising Tide and the Haraldshaugen national monument is recommended. Remember to be careful when walking along the shore as the rocks can be slippery, and always respect the forces of nature when walking to the lighthouse.


How do I get to Kvalsvik beach by car?

Turn off Fv 47 at Haraldsstøtten and follow Kvalsvikvegen. Then follow the signs to Kvalsvik beach.


Where can I park when I go to Kvalsvik?

There is parking right next to the bathing beach. If you want to walk along the Kyststien coastal path to Kvalsvik Badeplass (approx. 30 minutes), you can also park at Riksmonumentet Haraldshaugen.


How do I get to Kvalsvik by bus?

Take route 201 from Strandgata terminal or Bytunet in Haugesund city centre towards Bleikemyr. Get off at the Gard stop. From the bus stop, walk along the coastal path to Kvalsvik Badeplass. Can I walk from Haugesund city centre to Kvalsvik Badeplass?

It takes about an hour to walk from Haugesund city centre to Kvalsvik Badeplass. Feel free to stop by Haugesund Tourist Information at Haraldsgata 131 for directions and a free city map.


Can I cycle to Kvalsvik Badeplass?

You can easily cycle to Kvalsvik, and we recommend cycling along the Kyststien coastal path for an extra special experience. Feel free to stop by Haugesund Tourist Information at Haraldsgata 131 for assistance from knowledgeable tourist hosts. If you do not have your own bicycle, you can rent an electric city bike from Kolumbus. Viking Adventure also offers guided electric bike tours (must be booked in advance).


Are there any shops/cafés/kiosks near Kvalsvik Badeplass?

The Kiwi grocery store at Gardsenteret (Nygårdsvegen 6) is the nearest shop and is about a 35-minute walk from Kvalsvik Badeplass.

Please note that this shop is closed on Sundays. We recommend buying something to drink and eat in the town centre before heading to Kvalsvik Badeplass. If you are coming from Haugesund town centre, a good option on the way is Jåblom Bakst (which is open on Sundays).
